Energy FC Drops Home Opener To Orlando City

OKC Energy FC had a packed house for its home opener on Saturday, but fell to Orlando City, 2-1.

OKC Energy FC hosted its first home game in franchise history Saturday evening and dropped a 2-1 decision to defending USL PRO champion Orlando City SC at Pribil Stadium.

Orlando City (4-0-2) went up 1-0 in the 26th minute on a goal from Dennis Chin and doubled up on shots in the first half with a 10-5 advantage at the break. Lions goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo made his only three saves in the opening period. Energy FC (2-3-0) goalkeeper Jon Kempin had four saves in the opening period.

The Lions made it 2-0 in the 57th minute as Kevin Molino got around a defender and beat Kempin. Energy FC erased the clean sheet in stoppage time as Edmond, Okla., native Steven Perry scored to cut the lead to 2-1.

Orlando out-shot Energy FC 15-9 for the game as Chin led the Lions with four shots. Perry and Michael Thomas had two shots each for Energy FC.

The two clubs meet again on Sunday, May 4 in Orlando. Game time is 6:30 p.m. CT, and the game airs locally on 96.1 FM KXY. Energy FC returns home on Saturday, May 10 against the Orange County Blues.
