RedHawks Open Homestand With Win

A four-run seventh inning lifted the RedHawks to a 6-1 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Thursday night.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks used a four-run seventh inning to break open a 6-1 win against the Nashville Sounds Thursday in front of 4,788 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks (13-8) held a 2-1 lead entering the bottom of the seventh inning before loading the bases with one out. Second baseman Ronny Torreyes stepped up to the plate and connected on a two-RBI double. Shortstop Gregorio Petit added a RBI single, and first baseman Jon Singleton recorded his 26th RBI of the season on a groundout before the end of the four-run inning.

Domingo Santana led all players with three hits as the RedHawks opened up an eight-game homestand and four-game series against the Sounds.

RedHawks starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz (2-1) recorded the win, allowing one run on four hits, walking two and striking out one over five innings.

The RedHawks took a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Outfielder Domingo Santana belted a RBI triple on a line drive to right field to bring home Singleton, who got on base with a walk. Kiké Hernandez followed with a RBI groundout to score Santana for a 2-0 lead.

Nashville's Eugenio Velez grounded out in the top of the third inning to bring home Hector Gomez for the Sounds' lone run of the night, and to cut into the RedHawks lead, 2-1.

RedHawks tandem starter Rudy Owens pitched the final four innings of the game, earning a save by holding Nashville scoreless. He allowed two hits and struck out three.

The Sounds fell to 9-11 overall.

Nashville and Oklahoma City continue their four-game series at 7:05 p.m. Friday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. A post-game fireworks show will follow.
