OKLAHOMA CITY -

Thousands of postal service workers will be out on the picket line on Thursday at a site you may not expect.

Dozens of members with the American Postal Workers Union will be at the Staples office supply store near I-240 and Santa Fe with signs and chants.

Staples now provides traditional mail service. You can mail letters and packages from some of its stores around the country. It started offering the service back in November and the plan is to expand it to 1,500 stores.

So while it's convenient to customers, postal workers say that's a threat to their jobs which are already struggling. Many postal workers are being asked to work less as it is.

The postal service reported a $16 billion loss in 2012 alone as people are using email instead of snail mail. They claim the move is a step toward privatizing the Postal Service and will have your mail being handled by lower paid hourly workers.

Staples isn't commenting on the protests which will be going on at Staples stores around the country.

It's also worthy to note Staples announced last month it is closing 225 stores by next year, mainly because it is also dealing with lower sales.
