A man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol reportedly tried to attack a deputy with a knife during a traffic stop in Oklahoma City.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, just after 10 p.m. on Monday, a deputy pulled over a vehicle that changed lanes without signaling near Interstate 240 and S. Air Depot Blvd.

While speaking with the driver, 25-year-old Steven Charles Geraldon, the deputy said he could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage, and Geraldon showed signs of being under the influence.

The deputy then asked Geraldon to step out of the vehicle. That's when Geraldon reportedly grabbed a knife from inside the car and ran towards the deputy.

The deputy was able to knock the knife out of Geraldon's hands. Several other deputies responded to the scene and they were able to take Geraldon into custody, according to the Sheriff's office.

Deputies say they found drugs inside the car.

Geraldon was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of failure to signal, assault and battery with deadly weapon, DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
