EDMOND, Oklahoma -

The Edmond Police Department has canceled a silver alert that was issued Tuesday afternoon.

Officers have located 94-year-old Amy Maiello and she is safe. She was seen and approached by officers near Covell Road and Sooner earlier on Tuesday. At that time, police say the officers realized she was lost and needing to get to Midwest City.

Maiello was instructed to follow the Edmond officers as they escorted her to I-35 and toward MWC, but she took a turn in a different direction as they passed 2nd Street on I-35.

Maiello is described by her family of being of "sound mind," but was just lost.
