CHICKASHA, Oklahoma -

Chickasha police arrested an alleged rapist of an elderly woman.

Investigators said 25-year-old Chad Barber broke into his neighbor's home at a trailer park in Chickasha.

According to court records, Barber tied up a 64-year-old woman, ripped off her nightgown and raped her repeatedly.

The attack was so violent the suspect broke [the victim's] bed.

The victim told investigators the attacker "poured cleaning solution, to include bleach, on [the victim]" to get rid of any evidence.

During the struggle, the victim noticed the attacker had a red beard, a description that led police to her neighbor, Chad Barber.

Barber had been in the victim's home once before to sign a contract.

DNA evidence helped police track down Barber. Court papers showed Barber refused a polygraph and said, "It would make me look guilty as hell."

Chickasha Deputy Police Chief Elip Moore said when Barber refused to cooperate they rushed the DNA swabs through testing at the OSBI.

Eventually, the forensic evidence gave police what they needed.

Chickasha Police arrested Barber on April 14, one month from the day he allegedly broke into his neighbor's home.

The landlord has secured the victim's home since the attack and said everyone in the trailer park feels safe again because Barber is in jail.

Barber is being held in the Grady County Jail on $500,000 bond. He faces first degree rape charges.
