Two people, including a prison escapee, were arrested for the possession of cocaine during a traffic stop in Oklahoma City.

According to police, just before 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, an officer pulled over a vehicle that was speeding in the 700 block of N. Western. Police say the driver, 67-year-old Harvie Joe Mathis, did not have a valid driver's license.

A passenger in Mathis' car, 25-year-old Sarah Ahkibula, lied to the officer about her identity, according to police. She later admitted that she had escaped from Kate Barnard Prison at 3300 N. MLK earlier in the day.

Police say Ahkibula was convicted and serving time in prison for crimes including possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of contraband in a penal institution. Her last conviction date was May 16, 2012.

Ahkibula told police that she did not know Mathis, and she asked him to give her a ride to Tuttle. However, Mathis told police that he picked Ahkibula up near N.W. 9th and N. Indiana, and that they were going to a motel. Police say Ahkibula denied being a prostitute.

Officers say they found a small white rock like substance inside the vehicle. The substance tested positive for crack cocaine.

Both Ahkibula and Mathis were arrested on charges of possession of CDS – cocaine. Ahkibula faces additional charges of false information, false impersonation and escape from a community correctional center. Mathis also face charges of speeding and no state driver's license.
