Powerful Winds Topple Tree, Spark House Fire In Choctaw

Posted: Updated:
CHOCTAW, Oklahoma -

The stormy weather that moved across the state of Oklahoma caused damage for at least one homeowner in the town of Choctaw on Sunday.

Strong winds caused a violent chain reaction, first knocking down a tree on top of power lines. The power lines in turn sparked and spread to a house, engulfing the home in flames.

Fire crews with the Choctaw and Midwest City departments responded to battle the blaze at the home, located at 707 N. Anderson Rd.

Firefighters did not say if anyone was inside of the home at the time the fire started. No one was injured.

A preliminary damage estimate has not been released at this time.
