Police: OKC Woman Hits Boyfriend With Hammer After Being Strangled

An Oklahoma City woman attacked her boyfriend with a hammer after he reportedly strangled her. Both were arrested on domestic assault charges.

According to police, officers responded to the incident at about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of S. Woodward Ave. When they arrived, they found 55-year-old Bobby Joe Bell Jr. in the driveway, suffering from multiple wounds on his hand, arm and forehead.

Bell told police that his girlfriend, 49-year-old Loretta Lynn Bearden, hit him several times with a hammer. When officers spoke with Bearden, she says Bell strangled her after they got into a fight.

Officers say they observed discoloration on the left side of the Bearden's neck consistent with being choked.

Both Bearden and Bell were taken into custody on domestic abuse charges.
