OSAGE COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Fire crews are still working to put out a grass fire in Osage County. The flames have already burned more than 100 acres near Avant and Skiatook.

Residents in several counties are reporting a strong smell of smoke and hazy air.

The flames flared back up early Friday morning. Some of the wooded area is still in flames, but fire crews tell us it's back burning. That means it's not advancing but burning back on itself.

Avant's volunteer fire chief Morgan Sweeney said his crews have been fighting two fires starting Thursday and continuing through 2 a.m. Friday. The woods made it very challenging.

"It's real rugged terrain," Sweeney said. "We've all had to walk it. I think I've walked about ten miles today."

Early estimates are that 100 acres have burned. No one hurt has been hurt, and no buildings damaged.

In January, 2014, a Skiatook man pleaded guilty to stealing and destroying Avant's newest fire truck which was also their main medical response vehicle.

Tulsa Tough donated $1,000 to the volunteer fire department to help with replacement.
