McClain County investigators continued to track down leads Thursday afternoon in attempts to find a suspect in the killing of a Goldsby area mother.

Sheriff Don Hewett says Rachelle Flowers, 24, had no signs of trauma on her body, but a strong odor of propane was detected inside and outside the rural area home between Goldsby and Cole. Deputies are waiting for results of an autopsy to see if the gas contributed to Flowers' death.

On Wednesday afternoon, a deputy noticed an unattended tan pickup with its doors open. A purse and cell phone were in the front seat, according to Hewett.

"[Deputies] opened some windows ... and then they went in," said Hewett. "That's when they made this gruesome discovery [in the house]."

Flowers would have celebrated her 25th birthday Saturday. The sheriff's office was still receiving tips late Thursday.

"[The public has] been good about giving us leads," Hewett said. "All hands are out there working hard right now on this."

Hewett tells News 9 the OSBI has seven agents combing through evidence at a state laboratory. The victim's husband was at the house late Thursday. He told News 9 he was too upset to talk on camera.

Anyone with information that may help investigators is urged to call the McClain County Sheriff's Office.
