It's been almost a year since tornadoes tore through central Oklahoma and there are still millions of dollars in donated relief funding just waiting to help someone.

Following the tornadoes last May, donations came in from across the country and around the world and they went to different relief funds.

United Way took in $15.6 million in pledges and donations for its own Tornado Relief Fund. It was also tasked with administering the $4.6 million in pledges and donations made to Governor Fallin's OKStrong fund.

Now, of that $20.2 million total, United Way tells News 9 just under half, $9.4 million, has actually been spent or committed.

The United Way provided a breakdown of how that money has been used, where it's been spent. Just under 40 percent, $3.6 million, has gone to help in the area of mental health, including counseling, therapy and community workshops.

Repairs and rebuilding has used $3 million and $1.4 million has covered immediate needs like clothing, food and furniture. The money spent on legal and financial services totaled $600,000 and the rest was used for other goods and services.

The tornadoes did such significant damage that officials with United Way know there are still needs out there, and they still have close to $11 million dollars remaining to help meet those needs. Then, there's money that went to the Red Cross, more than twice as much, and not all of it has been allocated either.

As for the funds being administered by the United Way, if you were impacted by the storms and need help, you can call 211, the hotline for social services, physical and mental health care.
