Crews Put Out 4-Alarm Structure Fire In NE OKC

It was a busy night for firefighters as they battled a four-alarm fire for nearly six hours in northeast Oklahoma City.

A fire engulfed a structure at 1100 block of N.E. 23rd Street near N. Kelly Ave. Monday night.

News 9 Photojournalist Michael Johnston was on the scene and said this fire was a four-alarm fire. The structure is believed to have been housing tires.  Fire officials say there were a lot of flammable materials inside.

Firefighters also found a 100-pound propane tank inside. Officials say firefighters had to come out of the structure as the roof started to cave in.

N.E. 23rd was closed for most of the morning from N. Kelley Avenue to Lottie Avenue, as crews battled the fire.

Tuesday morning, crews remained on scene to put out hot spots. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
