MOORE, Oklahoma -

Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity (CCHFH) has broken ground in Moore and is ready to celebrate the first of 10 wall raisings.

According to the news release, the organization will build 10 homes in Moore over the course of the next year to year and a half. The CCHFH will start with three houses at the same time, when they typically build two to four homes per year. The completed homes will go to families affected by the storms last May.

"Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to be part of the local effort to rebuild the devastated communities of Moore with the gracious funds provided by people who donated through various ways after the storms locally and nation-wide," said Linda Banta, executive director of CCHFH. "With continued support of our sponsors and volunteers, we'll continue to address affordable housing needs in Cleveland County, specifically in the next year rebuilding in Moore, OK."

The event will take place at 1 p.m. on March 24 at 816 S.W. 10th St. in Moore.

Liz Barfield with the CCHFH said the Hutchinson Amish Youth Group will build the walls for the first raising. She said the organization will have a short ceremony with the Hodson family, City of Moore officials and staff and volunteers from CCHFH before they watch the walls of the first new home go up.

"I am so pleased that even in these difficult economic times, Habitat for Humanity is serving more families and communities around the world," said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. "We're incredibly grateful for the contributions of our many donors, partners, volunteers and advocates, whose continued support has made it possible for Habitat to build homes and hope."
