One of Oklahoma's own received the Medal of Honor Tuesday from President Obama. Former Green Beret, Melvin Morris from Okmulgee, was one of 24 veterans being honored.

Morris, now 72, was commanding a strike force during the Vietnam War when they came under attack. His fellow commander was killed, but despite heavy fire and being shot three times, Morris was able to recover his fallen comrade and a strategic map that could have proven devastating if it fell into enemy hands.

Morris is just one of three of the new Medal of Honor recipients still alive to receive the honor.
