EDMOND, Oklahoma -

A popular sushi restaurant near the University of Central Oklahoma was burglarized early Tuesday morning and the suspect got away with more than $7,000.

Edmond Police detectives hope surveillance video from inside Café Icon will help identify the suspect.

The thief busted through a window near the front register and pulled it open with a crowbar. The alarm did not sound because the sensors could not detect the thief's movements so low to the floor. The cameras, though, were rolling and caught the thief's every move.

"Just weird, just the way that he did it. He knows what he's doing," said owner Patrick Mok. "It crossed my mind, anyone who worked for me before or even come in and check my place out."

Edmond detectives and Mok believe this may have been an inside job or someone who knows the building and the operations well. Police said the restaurant rarely has that kind of cash on hand unless it is payroll time.

"It was heartbreaking, you know, because you know, a lot of my employees are counting on payroll," said Mok.

"It's unfortunate things happen, but it happens everywhere, not just Oklahoma and Edmond. Just everywhere so that's how I look at it."

Business was already back to normal on Thursday. Mok said that his staff members are ready to put this behind them. He said they would upgrade the sensors in the restaurant so even movement on the floor would set off an alarm.
