COLLINSVILLE, Oklahoma -

Firefighters from six fire departments battled a fast-moving grass fire west of Collinsville late Tuesday.

Fire officials believe the fire just east of Highway 75 and north of Highway 20 which spread quickly thanks to gusty northwesterly winds was intentionally set.

Rural Collinsville Fire Chief Jim Wilson says they don't know if it was a cigarette or a match which sparked the fire, but if anyone knows or saw anything to call Collinsville Police or the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

Fire officials say the mile-wide fire which threatened a housing addition started just after 10 p.m. and was brought under control by midnight.

Sixty firefighters from Collinsville, Owasso, Northwest Fire Protection District, Vera, Skiatook and the BIA were called in to fight the fire.

"It was tense for them and us because of that we don't know what it's gonna do and don't what the wind's going to do," said Collinsville Rural Fire Chief Jim Wilson.

Highway 20 was closed when the fire crossed the highway. It got close to a second housing addition and convenience store before firefighters stopped it.

Wilson said no homes were damaged and there were no reports of any injuries.
