Tulsa Police arrested a man accused of attempting to choke a 13-year-old boy early Tuesday.

According to a police report, officers were called to a residence in the 2800 block of North Delaware about a child abuse complaint at 12:30 a.m.

Officers said the boy told officers he was being "disciplined with a belt" by his mother when Clarence Chaplin, 37, "choked him," struck him on the nose and scratched his face.

The teen also stated in the police report, Chaplin had been drinking.

Police said after observing injuries on the child, Chaplin was located and arrested.

Chaplin was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of child abuse and domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

While he was being booked, officers stated in their report "Chaplin displayed signs of an intoxicated subject."

Jail records show Chaplin remains in jail in lieu of a $120,000 bond with a court appearance set for March 18, 2014.
