An Oklahoma City man was arrested for attacking a woman with a baseball bat when she tried to call 911 for help.

According to police, on Monday, March 3, officers responded to the incident at a home in the 3300 block of S. Lee in Oklahoma City.

The victim told police she and the suspect, 33-year-old Juan Sanchez, have been together for about two years. And Monday night, Sanchez became intoxicated and hit her several times with a metal baseball bat.

The victim said when she tried to call 911, Sanchez broke her cell phone with the bat. And when she tried to call 911 again on a different cell phone, Sanchez broke that phone as well.

Officers found Sanchez hiding in the shower and arrested him.

On Tuesday, March 11, Sanchez has been charged with one count of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of interference with emergency telephone call.
