A 13-year-old student was arrested after being accused of stealing candy and some Taco Bell coupons from classrooms at an Oklahoma City middle school.

According to the principal, at about 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, the janitors at Roosevelt Middle School found the student walking around the school about three hours after school was out. The student was also caught on the surveillance cameras walking down the halls.

The principal said he confronted the student and searched him. The student admitted to stealing a few packages of candy and some Taco Bell coupons from classrooms.

The principal said he released the student and told him to return with his parents.

An Oklahoma City police officer responded to the school at about 9:30 a.m. the next day. When the student returned with his mother, the principal told the officer that he wants to press charges against the student for burglary.

Police then took the student into custody. He has been booked into the Berry House on one count of second degree burglary.

Police said the student had a pending case and court date for receiving/concealing stolen property.
