My 2 Cents: Elderly Couple Kicked Out Of McDonald's My 2 Cents: Elderly Couple Kicked Out Of McDonald's

This is one that really stuck in Robin's craw today, and she brought it to my attention.

A worker at an uncrowded McDonald's in Virginia had the gall to tell a couple who'd been sitting and visiting at a table for 30 minutes, that their time was up and the workers needed to clean the floor.

But that's not what burns us up about it.

You see, they were an elderly couple, on a fixed income, and McDonald's is one of their favorite places. It's a treat to eat there and sit and visit.

They raised their kids on Mickey D's, and now their grand kids.

Now, I can kind of understand a McDonald's shooing teenagers out the door who might be hanging out a little too long, but an 87-year-old man and his wife?

Is it piling on to mention that he's a World War II veteran?

Probably is.

Have we gotten so busy, so impatient, so wrapped up in our phones and texting and fast food and turning a buck that we just don't have the time to respect and honor our elders?

Heaven forbid we actually watch them, and learn from them.

When was the last time we loitered over a meal, in a good way, just sharing the time with others without having to check our phones or watches.

That's not grounds to be kicked out of a restaurant is it?
