OU Students Dance 12 Hours For Oklahoma's Sick Children

NORMAN, Oklahoma -

University of Oklahoma students are dancing for 12 hours today to celebrate funds raised for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Over 2,000 OU students, as well as representatives from the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Children's Hospital Foundation, are dancing and playing games for half a day today to celebrate the money they raised over the last year.

According to the news release, Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement consisting of high school and college students from over 150 schools raising money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Soonerthon is the local Dance Marathon event.

Throughout the year, students learn leadership and life skills and interact with children's hospital patients and families while raising money. The local marathon concludes the program year.

The Soonerthon will run until 10 p.m. Saturday night at the Huston Huffman Fitness Center, located on the OU campus at 3rd St. and Asp Ave. The event raised $318,711.
