OU Softball Run-Rules Two Opponents

NORMAN, Oklahoma -

NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 13 Oklahoma softball team (16-6) won a pair of run-rule games on Friday at the Courtyard Marriott Tournament in Norman. OU defeated Liberty (2-17), 18-3, in five innings and then followed that with a 9-1, six-inning win over Western Illinois (10-5).

OU 18, Liberty 3 (5 innings)

Oklahoma tied a school record with six home runs in the win over the Flames. Previously, OU hit six against Pacific on Feb. 22, 2008.

Lauren Chamberlain enjoyed her 13th career multi-home run game, while Shelby Pendley had the 10th game in her career with two home runs. Chamberlain finished 3-4 with four runs scored and four RBI. Pendley was 3-5 with three runs scored and three RBI.

Sophomore Erin Miller was 3-5 in the leadoff spot with three runs scored and four RBI thanks to her second career grand slam.

Paris Townsend hit the first home run of her career, doing so as a pinch hitter in the fourth inning.

Whitney Ellis was 3-3 with three runs driven in and a run scored.

OU 9, Western Illinois 1 (6 innings)

Oklahoma recorded its ninth run-rule win of the season with the win. Ellis was 2-3 with a run scored and four RBI, including a walk-off two-run single in the sixth inning.

Chamberlain connected for her fifth home run of the season in the sixth. She was 1-1 with three runs scored and three walks.

Georgia Casey was 2-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. She extended her hitting streak to 10 games, the longest by an OU player this year.

Kelsey Stevens improved to 10-3 with the win. She struck out eight, tying for her second-highest mark of the year, and allowed just one run on two walks and six hits.

National Champion Sooners to Visit White House

As the reigning national champions, the 2013 Oklahoma softball team will experience another once-in-a-lifetime moment Monday as members of team and coaching staff will meet President Barack Obama at the White House in Washington D.C.

The Sooners will join 18 other national championship teams on Monday in the nation's capital, begins its day in the morning when the team will be given a private tour of the U.S. Capitol Building thanks to the staff of United States Congressman Tom Cole (4th District – Oklahoma).

The official function begins at approximately 2 p.m. ET with a tour of the White House. Afterward, the Sooners will get to meet the President and pose for a photo opportunity.

The President will then make remarks on the South Lawn. The event will be streamed live on www.whitehouse.gov/live.

Following the meeting with the President, members of the team will be free to explore Washington D.C. before returning to Norman on Tuesday morning.
