According to Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel, Benson's family members contacted the sheriff's office, telling investigators that Benson was in Tulsa and to negotiate his surrender. Whetsel sent a deputy to pick up Benson, who was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators tell News 9 Benson has already been transferred back to the Oklahoma County Jail.

Police believe Benson is the man responsible for the shooting death of Zachary Bowie, 30, outside of Club Social in Bricktown.
