CREEK COUNTY, Oklahoma -

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says one man received minor injuries in a crash that shut down the eastbound lanes of the Turner Turnpike near Bristow Thursday morning.

According to the OHP the crash happened at about 6:40 a.m. a half-mile east of the Bristow gate.

The OHP says a man was driving an RV pulling a double-decker trailer with two four-wheel drive pickups on it when he fell asleep. When he awoke, the OHP says, the RV was headed off the highway and he overcorrected, causing the RV and its trailer to roll onto their sides.

The trailer broke loose from the RV and the truck that had been on the top level of the trailer broke loose from it.

Troopers say the driver's father was asleep in the back of the RV and received minor injuries. They say he was taken to a hospital in Tulsa. They say the driver wasn't hurt.

Troopers say the father and son had been racing their trucks in Mexico and were on their way home to Chicago when the wreck happened.

Troopers diverted eastbound traffic off the turnpike at the Bristow exit and back on at the Kellyville gate.

Once a wrecker arrived at about 8 a.m. and pulled the vehicles off the highway, the OHP reopened the eastbound lanes.
