Police need the public's help in catching two crooks who attacked and robbed a store clerk. Fortunately, surveillance cameras were rolling when one of the robbers made a mistake that could lead to his capture.

The robbers targeted the RS Quick stop on NW 23rd St. near Meridian on February 26. The clerk tells News 9 they came in asking for soap and then left, only to return minutes later to rob him. That clerk did not want to show his face on camera, but he did want to share his story and the surveillance video, hoping it helps catch the culprits.

The surveillance video, released Wednesday by Oklahoma City Police, shows one of the robbers tackling the convenience store clerk to the ground, and holding him down, while his accomplice slips in and goes behind the counter.

"I told him, take my money, take my money!" recalled the clerk. "Don't touch me! Take my money! Don't touch me!"

In the video, you can see the clerk continues to struggle as the other robber tries to open the register

"First he is trying to open the register, but he could not," said the clerk. "Then he take out my register, the whole register!"

While his accomplice bolts, the other robber is still holding the clerk down, covering his mouth and eyes. The clerk says he was afraid for his life, but that the robber would not listen to him or let him go until his accomplice was in the car.

But then minutes later, that accomplice makes a mistake and returns to the store without his mask on, all just to get a couple boxes of cigars.

"He stops and looks at the camera at some point so you get a good look at his face," said MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department. "Good enough look that anyone who knows him should recognize him."

In all, the clerk says the crooks only got away with about $250. And he believes the one who showed his face is an old customer who used to frequent his store. Now he just hopes he gets caught, before he strikes again.

The clerk says this is the first time this store has been hit in more than two years. He just hopes it is the last.

If you recognize or know who either of the suspects are, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
