OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police are on the hunt for a gunman accused of killing a man outside of a nightclub early Saturday morning.

It happened at SOCIAL along the canal in Bricktown. Police said one man suffered a gunshot wound and died.

Just 12 hours after the deadly shooting, it was back to business as usual in Bricktown, but investigators were hard at work trying to figure out who shot a man in the early-morning hours.

Despite a typically heavy police presence in the entertainment district, the suspect got away. Officers were on scene within seconds.

"They were close in the area. They actually heard the shots themselves, they started this way," said Lt. Gamile Hardin with the Oklahoma City Police Department. "Upon arrival they noticed a young male laying (sic) on the ground with a gunshot wound."

On Facebook the owner-operator of the club posted:

"Tonight at SOCIAL an individual was removed from the club for being disorderly with his female companion. Upon being kicked out he stated that he was going to "spray" our security staff. Moments later he returned from across the canal and fired a gun. A bystander was struck and the condition of the individual is yet to be determined. I just wanted to say that my prayers are with this individual and it is never anyone's intent for harm to be done to anyone. This was an act that was outside of our control and we are working with law enforcement to assist in the apprehension of the perpetrator."

Evidence of the shooting was still on the front of the building and canal walkway Saturday. Detectives obtained security camera footage from right outside the club where the man was killed. Police say this was an isolated incident and businesses in the area echoed that.

"We've rarely had anything happen. It's kind of a mixed. We're deviled by our own advocacy because when something rare happens, it's such a big deal," said Bricktown Brewery Managing Partner Charles Stout. "The area is clearly safe. It has been clearly safe for 21 years and it's still safe tonight."

Police asked that anyone with information on the shooting come forward and notify detectives.
