OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City man was arrested on domestic abuse charges after police say he threw a knife at his girlfriend early Thursday morning.

According to police, the victim told officers that she had gotten into an argument with the suspect, 51-year-old Bruce Edward Taft. During the argument, Taft punched the victim in the mouth and even threatened her with a large stick.

The victim said she walked into the kitchen to avoid Taft. That's when Taft followed her and threw a large kitchen knife at her.

The victim was able to get out of the house and call 911. Officers responded to the scene just after 1 a.m. and took Taft into custody.

Police said the victim suffered a cut above her left eye, and was treated by EMSA paramedics at the scene.

Taft is facing several charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon after a former felony conviction, domestic abuse, and assault and battery.
