I'm stupefied at the issues that have become controversial in this culture.

I'm stupefied at the issues that have become controversial in this culture.

When did you become a right wing loon if you comment on someone's behavior during the singing of our National Anthem?

I make no apologies for tweeting from the Chesapeake Arena yesterday that I appreciated Edmond's own Blake Griffin putting his hand over his heart during the Anthem. The only Los Angeles Clipper player I saw doing that.

Very few of the Thunder players do it either, for that matter, most NBA players stand with their hands at their sides, often with their heads bowed.

Perhaps they are expressing deep humility and appreciation for the incredible opportunity and riches this nation has provided them with.

But if that's what they're signaling, it's lost on many who responded to my post and think it's disrespectful.

And yes, there is a right way to stand during the Anthem.

Several people commented that the hand over the heart is for the Pledge of Allegiance, not the Anthem.

Wrong.

The U.S. Code says, during the playing of the National Anthem, those not in the military, "Should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart." If there is no flag, face the music with your right hand over your heart.

There you go...pass it on.
