C.J. Stretch struck quickly, but the Grand Rapids Griffins overcame the early goal to defeat the Oklahoma City Barons 4-3 and end the Barons eight game unbeaten streak Saturday night at Van Andel Arena.

Stretch started things off quickly for the Barons as he drove the net and tipped in a point shot from David Musil just 18 seconds into the first period. Will Acton was credited with the second assist.

The goal just 18 seconds into the game shattered the previous record for fastest goal to begin a game this season for the Barons.

Grand Rapids was able to tie the game 1-1 on the power play after Acton went to the box for hooking. Mitch Callahan deflected a shot from Calle Jarnkrok that beat Richard Bachman just eight seconds into the power play. Adam Almquist had the second assist on the goal.

About a minute and a half later, Steve Pinizzotto received a pass from Mark Arcobello and beat Petr Mrazek to give Oklahoma City the lead once again. The goal was Pinizzotto's first as a Baron.

In the second period, Arcobello took a slashing minor on the back check and put the Griffins on their sixth power play of the game.

Just five seconds into the power play, Almquist fired a shot off Bachman's pad, Callahan netted his second of the game as found the rebound and put the backhander into the open net to tie the game at two.

At 12:36 of the second period, Grand Rapids took the lead 3-2 when Trevor Parkes deflected an Almquist point shot past Bachman.

As the third period got underway, the Barons had to kill off a lengthy 5-on-3 power play, but were able to escape without giving up a goal.

At 7:45 of the third period, Arcobello fired a one-timer from the point that handcuffed Mrazek and knotted the game up 3-3. Brad Hunt and Brandon Davidson were given assists on the goal.

Cory Emmerton broke the tie to give the Griffins a 4-3 lead after a one-timer blast beat Bachman. Jordan Tootoo and Brennan Evans were given assists on the goal.

Bachman stopped 33 of the 37 shots and Mrazek made 33 saves on the 36 shots he faced.
