Some state senators want to use $40 million from the unclaimed property fund to finish the American Indian Cultural Center near downtown. I say good idea. A lot of you, like Liz from Pauls Valley, think I'm wrong:
Liz: "Why can't some of the state's unclaimed property fund be used to finance tornado shelters for our school children? That's a much more pressing issue."
Tiff writes: "Finish the project Oklahoma. It can be a great addition to downtown OKC and the entire state."
Mary from Shawnee: "I usually agree, but think you were way off last night. It's NOT THEIR MONEY!"
And Stoney in Moore says: "Kelly, I thought your thinking was better than this. That money could be used to purchase the safe rooms for our children."
Phil adds: "We need to spend money on a doomed-from-the-start cultural center? No way!"
Regina in Perry: "If there is money ‘just sitting there' available let's repair our Great State Capitol building first."
Barbara writes: "I wanted to agree with your sentiment concerning the Indian Center. You were spot on!"
Finally, from David in Blackwell: "No additional funds should be spent and the property placed on the market in the hopes of at least recovering some of the dollars wasted."
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
