Durant: "I Jumped The Gun" On Announcing Westbrook's Return

Thunder fans will have to wait one more day.

Coach Scott Brooks spoke after practice on Wednesday, and expressed uncertainty regarding Russell Westbrook's availablility for Thursday's showdown against the Miami Heat. 

"We'll see," Brooks said.  "He practiced today, the first time he went through a practice in its entirety.  He went through one practice.  We'll see how he feels tomorrow and go from there."

Many Thunder fans got their hopes up after Kevin Durant told Grantland that Westbrook would be back for "next game right after the All-Star break, against Miami."

Durant retracted that on Wednesday, saying he "was just a little too excited then."

"I jumped the gun on that one," Durant said with a smile. "That's my fault if I gave out some information that's not true. 

KD says he believed Westbrook would return for the Miami game based off of initial reports. 

"They said right after All Star break when he got hurt a few months ago, so I just assumed."

Brooks did discuss Westbrook's practice performance, saying the All Star guard looked strong during a tough workout.

"I thought he had a good practice today," Brooks said.  "We went pretty hard, there's no question. We did a lot of things in transition, we did a lot of half court, we did a lot of defensive drills, and he was able to participate in all of our drills and the entire practice."

Durant echoed Brooks' uncertainty about Westbrook's status for Thursday, explaining that any medical decision is out of his hands.

"I don't know," Durant said.  "That's up to the medical staff and Russell and how he feels." 

Tipoff against Miami is set for 7 p.m. from Chesapeake Arena.
