Oklahoma City police arrested a man who reportedly became combative with officers and employees at a local hospital early Tuesday morning.

According to police, it happened just before 2 a.m. at the Mercy Hospital, located at 4300 W. Memorial Rd. in Oklahoma City.

The suspect, 21-year-old Robert Rodriguez, was taken into custody following a disturbance at another location. Officers transported Rodriguez to the Mercy Hospital to be checked out for his injuries. However, when they arrived at the ER, Rodriguez reportedly began fighting with the officers.

According to police, during the struggle, Rodriguez spat on an officer and kicked him. Officers said Rodriguez wasn't following their commands, and they had to use force to get him under control.

After Rodriguez was medically cleared from the hospital, he was taken into custody on charges of assault and battery on a police office, and throwing human waste on state, county or city employee.
