Former Oklahoma State coach Eddie Sutton was named a finalist for the 2014 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

Sutton was joined on the list by nine other finalists, highlighted by recently retired NBA commissioner David Stern.

The remaining finalists were Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, Kevin Johnson, Spencer Haywood, Nolan Richardon and Gary Williams.

Finalists need 18 out of 24 votes from the committee to be inducted. The select few who make the cut will be enshrined on Aug. 8 in Springfield, Mass.

Sutton was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011 and is the first coach in college basketball history to take four different schools to the NCAA Tournament, guiding OSU, Kentucky, Arkansas and Creighton to the "Big Dance."

He also reached the Final Four on three occasions, first with Arkansas in 1978, before leading his alma mater OSU twice in 1995 and 2004.

Sutton retired as just one of eight coaches to reach the 800-career victory mark. He went 368-151 at OSU from 1990-2006.
