The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a nine-year-old Spiro boy was flown to a Tulsa hospital after being hurt in a single-vehicle crash in rural LeFlore County Thursday evening.

Troopers said a 2006 Chevrolet HHR driven by Dylan White, 22, of Spiro was southbound on Cowshed Crossing road when he drove off into a ditch causing the vehicle roll over at about 9 p.m.

He was treated and released from a Poteau hospital, but troopers said his 9-year-old male passenger was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition with head, leg and internal injuries.

The OHP said troopers detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver. He was cited for driving under the influence.

Troopers said neither White nor the boy were wearing seat belts.
