11 More Flu-Related Deaths Reported In Oklahoma

The Oklahoma State Department of Health says 44 people have died in the state due to the flu. The total jumped by 11 since last week.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health says 44 people have died in the state due to the flu. The total jumped by 11 since last week.

Statewide, hospitalizations due to influenza jumped from 975 last week to 1,076.

The OSDH says among the dead are two under age of 4, 10 between 18 to 49 years old, 19 are between 50-64 years old and 13 people older than 65.

The Department of Health began keeping statistics for the 2013-2014 flu seasons beginning in October 2013.

The Red Cross urges care to avoid spreading the virus to others.

The organization has user-friendly information about precautions to take to avoid the flu, what to do if you get the flu and how to safely care for someone who has the flu.

Most important is to wash your hands often.
