An earthquake rattled residents near Cherokee, Oklahoma, early Thursday morning. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 6:48 a.m.

Its epicenter was located eight miles southeast of Cherokee, 27 miles northwest of Enid, 63 miles west of Ponca City, and 91 miles north, northwest of Oklahoma City.

It was about three miles deep.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported following this earthquake.
