A lot of people, including myself, are concerned about the entitlement mindset we see spreading across the nation, and what a top Washington official testified to today compounds my concern.
The Congressional Budget Office is non-partisan and conducts independent analysis to support Congress's budget process. The head of the CBO went before a Congressional committee and testified about Obamacare saying "The act creates a disincentive for people to work."
He stated that essentially the more you work and the more you make, the more you're going to pay of your own healthcare costs, but the less you work, the less you'll pay. Other taxpayers will pick up the tab for more of your healthcare costs.
The White House says that the government subsidies mean if people are working less they'll be spending more time with their families and such, and that's good.
Now I don't remember a lot from my college economics classes, but I remember if Americans work less we'll produce less, and our economy will rapidly shrink. More jobs will be lost. More people will be relying on the government to take care of them.
That quote from a non-partisan budget expert is disturbing, Obamacare "creates a disincentive for people to work" that doesn't sound like a cure for our struggling economy.
