An Oklahoma County judge has ordered a competency examination for a man charged with killing four family members.

District Judge Glenn Jones ordered the examination Wednesday for 40-year-old Daniel Green. Green's defense attorney, Gina Walker, told Jones that Green has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and is unable to help her prepare his legal defense on four counts of first-degree murder.

The examination will determine whether Green is mentally competent to proceed with the case. It will also determine whether medication can help restore competency.

Green is charged in the Aug. 14 shooting deaths of his mother, 57-year-old Sallie Green; sister, 34-year-old Rebecca Cizek; his sister's daughter, 16-year-old Katherine Cizek; and her 7-month-old son, Amario Dominguez III. Investigators say the victims lived at a southeast Oklahoma City house with Daniel Green.
