Pawhuska Man Makes Snow Plow Out Of Satellite Dish

What do a four-wheeler, a satellite dish and snowy roads have in common? You might think, not a lot. But one Green Country man found an innovative way to bring the three together to help his neighbors.

From the front yard of Tiffany Blankinship's Pawhuska home the sounds of children echoed throughout the neighborhood.

But before the laughter and snowball fights, there was something else.

"I thought it was awful rednecky and I found it hilarious," Blankinship said.

Funny enough that Blankinship knew she had to pull out her phone and start recording. On the other side of the camera was her neighbor, on his 4-wheeler, plowing the snow using an old satellite dish attached to the front.

"The satellite, it was shaped like this and flat at the bottom so it was perfect to scoop along the road, so it worked out perfect," Blankinship said. "He was just messing around in his driveway and he put it together in his driveway."

Her neighbor called the satellite snow plow, "redneck ingenuity," but it's a pretty good example of recycling.

"If he wasn't going to use it to watch TV, might as well use it for something else," Blankinship.

About three inches of snow fell in the town, sticking to everything it touched. City workers were out clearing and treating the roads, but mostly just the main thoroughfares, which left residential streets, like Blankinship's, covered in snow.

Until a do-it-yourselfer tapped his Oklahoma handiness to plow the only path out of their neighborhood.

"He cleared our roads so we could get out and go to the store," said Blankinship. "It definitely helped us this morning."

Blankinship said her neighbor told her he has plans to make the handmade plow bigger and better by adding a few more satellites to the front.

We did try to talk with that neighbor, but after he cleared the streets, he apparently hit the road for the day.
