My 2 Cents: Coca-Cola Super Bowl Commercial

What was perhaps the most talked about commercial during yesterday's Super Bowl may be kind of backfiring on the company that aired it.

I'm talking about the Coca-Cola commercial with the singing of America the Beautiful.

I have to admit I didn't really even think twice about it after seeing it, but a lot of people are upset, some are calling it un-American.

Obviously there's some illegal immigration backlash going on in response to this spot.

I've said before, I support making English the official language of the United States.

I believe requiring it gives us all more common ground, and prevents immigrant groups from becoming isolated in their own communities.

But I have to tell you, after watching it a second time, having people sing America the Beautiful in their native language is a lovely tribute to a country people from all over the world come to love.

But before we get to worked up about this commercial either way, remember they're not selling America, they're selling soda pop.
