OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City man was arrested after police say he strangled a woman and threatened to kill her with a knife.

According to police, 46-year-old Fred Ray Austin was arrested Thursday afternoon in southeast Oklahoma City.

The victim told police that she had gotten into an argument with Austin, and he became very angry. He tried to smother her by pushing her head into a pillow on the bed while saying, "I'm going to kill you."

The victim said she tried to scream for help, but Austin shoved rags in her mouth and began choking her. Austin then reportedly placed the dull side of a knife against the victim's neck, and slit it across her neck saying, "I'm gonna kill you."

The victim said she fell off the bed at that time, and Austin took her car key and drove away. He was taken into custody when he later returned to the house.

Austin is facing several charges, including domestic assault with deadly weapon, domestic abuse by strangulation, and domestic violation.
