Vian Police and the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office are investigating what they are calling the "suspicious" death of a two-month-old child late Thursday.

Sheriff Ron Lockhart told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, police and deputies are conducting interviews to figure out what happened.

Authorities would not release the specifics of the baby's death, but said the baby's father was brought in for questioning.

"He was just a baby," said the infant's aunt Chelsea Pringle. "He was sweet. He was healthy. He was gaining weight. One minute he was there, and now he's gone."

Police and deputies were called to the Vian home in reference to an unresponsive infant.

"He was our new baby," said Chelsea Pringle. "He was my nephew. He was her brand new baby."

The child's body has been set to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa to determine the cause of death.
