Two grass fires kept firefighters busy Sunday night into Monday morning.

The first one was south of Choctaw. Fire crews responded to the large fire just before midnight near S.E. 59th Street and Triple X Road. A firefighter told News 9 this blaze was hard to get control of since it was in a heavily wooded area. Crews had to truck water in. It has since been contained.

The second one sparked early Monday morning around 2:30 near Britton and Rockwell and came dangerously close to a nursing home.

At one point the winds pushed the flames to the Saint Ann Retirement Center on Britton. Crews then became aggressive on the flames and contained it.

"It was very important to get to the nursing home," said Tim Long with the Oklahoma City Fire Department. "We immediately committed all of our fire crews to the far south end of the fire to try and get to the head of this. We committed our brush pumpers to the far south end and they worked in a tandem attack and immediately got a handle on this incident."

Crews do not have a cause on either of these fires. No injuries are reported.
