Sunday afternoon's game against No. 12 Baylor was a prime opportunity for No. 8 Oklahoma State to give their 16-1 start to the season a bit of legitimacy. Unfortunately, the Cowgirls let a statement win slip through their fingers. Twice.

Odyssey Sims hit a layup and free throw with 3.8 seconds left and then stole the ball from OSU's Tiffany Bias as Bias was trying to maneuver for a game-tying shot to preserve a 69-66 overtime win for the Lady Bears in Stillwater.

Sims' layup came on a breakaway after Kendra Suttles airballed a 3-point attempt as the shot clock was winding down on OSU. The loose ball deflected out to Sims, who picked it up on a dead run and scored while being fouled by Suttles.

The ensuing inbounds pass came to Bias, who got to halfcourt before Sims swiped the ball away from her and ran out the clock.

Sims' heroics in overtime overshadowed the terrific defensive job the Cowgirls did on Sims all afternoon. Sims finished the day with 17 points on just 7-of-27 shooting with eight turnovers. Oklahoma State held Baylor to just 37.3 percent shooting for the game, but gave up 19 offensive rebounds and was dominated on the boards overall, 55-40.

The real hero for Baylor was Makenzie Robertson, whose 3-pointer with 5.3 seconds remaining in regulation tied the score at 61 and sent the game to overtime. Robertson finished with 18 points, all coming on 3-pointers. She finished the game 6-of-10 from deep.

The Cowgirls struggled from the field all afternoon, finishing the day just 35.5 percent from the floor. Bias led the Cowgirls with 17 points and Roshunda Johnson provided a big lift off the bench, scoring 15 points. Suttles finished the game with 12.

The Lady Bears led, 33-24, at halftime and extended their lead to 16 points, at 45-29, with 15:11 remaining in the game. That's when the Cowgirls clicked into high gear and rattled off a 13-1 run over the next five minutes to cut the lead to four, forcing a Baylor timeout.

The Cowgirls kept battling and eventually took the lead with seven minutes to go on two Suttles free throws. An and-one opportunity for Suttles pushed the lead to 57-53 with 1:55 remaining. However, the Bears charged back with Robertson hitting two 3-pointers, including the game-tying attempt off a Niya Johnson steal.
