A teenager's diary provided police with information that led to the arrest of a Yukon man accused of rape and lewd acts with a child.

On Friday, 57-year-old Denver Dale Ervin was charged with nine counts of lewd acts after a former conviction of a felony, and three counts of rape after a former conviction of a felony.

According to police, Ervin was arrested on November 29, 2013. A mother told police she read her 14-year-old daughter's diary, and discovered that the girl had written about Ervin touching her and forcing her to perform oral sex on him on several occasions from September 15 to November 18, 2013.

The victim's mother said she had not talked to her daughter about the allegations, and that her daughter had been staying at her sister's home.

The mother told police the victim had never said anything to her about Ervin's actions, and she does not have a history of making these kind of statements.

Ervin was then taken into custody. Police say there are two more victims, both in their early teens.

The victim's mother had previously filed a police report when she found out her daughter had been talking to a 21-year-old man on the Internet.
