Your 2 Cents: News Coverage Of Reported Shooting At OU

News9 was first on the scene and brought you complete coverage of this morning's scare at OU when someone thought they heard gun shots in a building. Some say we did too much on it. Here's some of YOUR 2 Cents on our coverage.

Mark and Kristan first: "I think it was fantastic. Peoples' lives could have been at stake!"

Cindy says: "I have a daughter at OU, I appreciated the updates, even after they gave the clear, because I still wanted to know the cause."

But Mitch writes: "Get all your facts straight before broadcasting it. You have any idea how many people went into a panic because of it?"

From Christine: "News 9 and (pilot) Jim Gardner did a fine job. Even made comment to the fact that NO sense of urgency was being displayed."

Mark says: "The helicopter coverage was showing too much police movement."

LeeAnn writes: "Loved the statewide panic you caused. Do you not confirm stories first?"

LeeAnn, the story was the report of shots heard on campus and the incredible police response to the scene. And rumors were exploding on social media.

Stacy gets that and writes: "Your team was reporting the info that was given. They stayed professional and did not speculate."

From Kathy: "Waaayyy over reported by your people. And when it was nothing it should have gone back to regular programming."

Several students wrote in, including Tammy: "We were issued a warning and told to lock our doors. Sorry to you people that missed your soaps."

And Kailee added: "Many of the students at OU, including myself, appreciated your coverage because we had very little information."
