Body Found In Rural Area Near Meeker

Posted: Updated:
MEEKER, Oklahoma -

New information Wednesday night on the discovery of a body, buried in a field near the town of Meeker. Investigators with at least 4 different agencies are on the scene near Hazel Dell and Crosslin, just east of Highway 18.

Officials have been digging in the field for the past couple of hours. We know the same investigators have been looking into the disappearance of a Shawnee man. And his family fears he may be the victim of foul play.

Right now we know the FBI, Shawnee police, Sac and Fox Nation police, and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's office are all involved in this investigation. And his mother just hopes they figure out what happened to him.

"He always talked to anybody, he was never a stranger to anybody," said his mom Pam Dent, who is concerned about her 27 year old son Marshall.

She says he is schizophrenic, and disappeared from their Shawnee home December 23rd.

"He's due for a shot today," Dent said. "I doubt if he'll make it."

Pam says she gave Marshall money to go to the Walmart near the Shawnee Mall to get Christmas presents, and that her daughters last saw him leaving their home with a friend and that friend's cousin. He hasn't been seen or heard from since.

"Hopefully he is out there just wandering around but under the circumstances we are praying he just comes home," cried Dent.

She says Marshall has a young son, and has never gone missing without calling to let them know where he is.

"Not hearing from him is the hard part, because he has too much at home he has his son that comes over, he has us that loves him very much," said Dent. "He's got three sisters that dearly love him and want him home!"

The family says they will be putting up these missing person signs all over Shawnee today and the rest of the week - hoping someone will call with the answers they need.

"We just want him home and if any, anybody knows anything-I plead with them that the tell," said Dent.

Shawnee police confirm they are investigating the disappearance of Marshall Dent, but wouldn't confirm anything else.

"Our prayer is that he comes home safe but as far as anything else the simple fact is he's not here," cried Dent.

Right now there has been no confirmation if the body found is indeed the body of Marshall Dent. The medical Examiner is being brought in to make the final identification. But authorities are notifying the Dent family that a body has been located.
