My 2 Cents: The Kelly Ogle Food, Fun And Facts Tour

Over my 50 years of living in Oklahoma, I've been blessed to see most every part of this diverse state.

And I've tried to share some of what I've seen with my kids, but I decided recently that they needed to experience some of those places first hand to understand Oklahoma's colorful history.

Getting teenagers fired up about a "history trip" isn't really all that hard if you promise them some of the best food they've ever eaten.

And so the "The Kelly Ogle Food, Fun and Facts Tour" began.

The first trip was southwest to eat Longhorn Burgers and cobbler at Meers in the Wichita Mountains, then a winding drive up to the top of Mt. Scott north of Lawton, and finally down through the revitalized, and eclectic tourist and retirement community of Medicine Park.

This past Saturday we loaded up again, and headed north to Ponca City.

On the way we stopped at the ruins of the "101 Ranch", which I'd shown the kids a documentary about, then some of the famous Mexican food at the Ponca City Airport at Enriques, or on-REEK-ees as the locals call it.

After that we enjoyed a fascinating tour of the beautiful old Poncan Theater, and the rest of the afternoon we spent exploring the absolutely incredible Marland Mansion.

The kids, and their friends who want to come along, are already asking where we're heading to next. So I'm taking suggestions.
