The Oklahoma Sooners came into the season as the popular choice to win the Big 12 conference. Now, the Sooners are 1-2 in Big 12 play for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

The Sooners blew a 12-point second half lead and lost to Texas in overtime, 79-74 in Austin Wednesday afternoon.

It was the Sooners' second straight overtime loss after falling to Iowa State, 82-75 in Norman on Sunday.

The loss spoiled a sensational performance from OU senior Aaryn Ellenberg, who scored a career-high 37 points for the Sooners on 13-of-27 shooting, and became the sixth OU players to score 2,000 points in her career.

Ellenberg came into Wednesday's game as the Sooners' leading scorer this season, but was shooting just 40.3 percent from the field, third-worst on the team this year. In the Sooners' previous five losses, Ellenberg scored 16.6 points per game on just 31 percent shooting.

Ellenberg was on fire in the first half, scoring 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Morgan Hook drilled a halfcourt buzzer-beater to give OU a 38-26 lead at the break.

Unfortunately in the second half, the Sooners' good fortune dried up, as Oklahoma turned the ball over 16 times in the second half after forcing 14 Texas turnovers in the first half.

The Longhorns were led by Empress Davenport's 15 points. Davenport was one of four players in double figures for Texas. The Longhorns were able to chip away at the Sooners' lead thanks to 20 offensive boards, 11 in the second half and overtime, which led to Texas taking 14 more shots in the second half.

Texas pulled within one four times but couldn't crack the Sooners' lead until GiGi Mazionyte nailed a 3-pointer from the left wing with 31.7 seconds to play to tie the game 68-68. Texas had a chance to win the game in regulation, but couldn't get the shot to fall at the buzzer.
